#EndSARS: Army to challenge any indictment of personnel over Lekki Toll Gate shootings
The military legal team representing the Nigerian Army at the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry says should the outcome of the investigation indict any of the officers and men, it will seek legal intervention to challenge the report.
The team stated this while submitting the report of its appearance before the panel to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai in Abuja.
It insisted that its appearance at the panel was to throw more light on what transpired during the incident.
The team said the Army was summoned before the Judicial Panel of Inquiry over the Lekki Toll Gate shootings of October 20, 2020, as no allegation or petition was raised against the personnel.
The Nigerian Army promises to continue to discharge its duties in line with the rules of engagement and related existing laws to protect the peace and unity of the nation.
