Ekweremadu: Father of David Nwamini, Key Figure in UK Kidney Transplant Case, Dies Amid Family’s Silence

Mr. Felix Nwamini Ukpo, father of David Ukpo Nwamini—the young man at the center of the high-profile UK illegal kidney transplant case involving former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu—has passed away. The news was confirmed by David’s brother, Boniface Nwamini Ukpo, who revealed that their father’s death was linked to the emotional strain of being cut off from David since 2022, when the transplant saga began.

Ekweremadu received a prison sentence of nine years and eight months, his wife was sentenced to four years and six months, and Dr. Obeta, described as a middleman, was sentenced to 10 years. Since the conviction, David and his family have maintained little contact. Boniface stated that the family has not heard from David since the incident, and that their father’s health deteriorated under the emotional burden of the case before his death on Sunday.
