Eight Family Members Traveling for Burial Preparations Perish as Car Plunges into Benue River
Tragedy struck in Benue State when eight members of the Kyégh family lost their lives after their vehicle veered off the road and plunged into the River Dura in Kwande Local Government Area. The family was reportedly en route to make burial preparations when the accident occurred, leaving the community in deep mourning.
The Executive Chairman of Vandeikya Local Government, Hon. Dennis Terkura Guda, described the incident as a “heartbreaking tragedy” and expressed profound sympathy to the bereaved family. In a bid to support them, he settled all outstanding mortuary bills and provided eight caskets to ensure the victims were laid to rest with dignity.
Hon. Guda also prayed for the Kyégh family, asking for strength to endure the loss and for eternal rest for the deceased. He assured the grieving relatives that the local government would remain supportive during their time of sorrow, stating, “No family deserves to go through such unimaginable tragedy alone. We are one people, and their pain is our pain.”
