EEDC Gives Reasons for Blackout in Imo State
In a recent statement issued by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), it has been revealed that the entire Imo State is currently facing a severe blackout due to an ongoing labour strike.
Mr. Emeka Ezeh, the Head of Corporate Communications for EEDC, made the announcement on Thursday in Enugu. He clarified that the loss of electricity supply across Imo State is a direct consequence of the industrial action taken by organized labour unions in the state.
Ezeh explained, “EEDC wishes to inform its esteemed customers in Imo State that the loss of supply currently being experienced follows the industrial action by organized labour unions in Imo State. This led to the union shutting down our source of supply at Egbu Transmission Station, leaving us with no energy to distribute to our customers. As a result of this development, the whole of Imo State is without electricity supply.”
While acknowledging the inconveniences faced by their customers, Ezeh expressed hope for a swift resolution of the issue, stating, “We appreciate the inconveniences this situation must have caused our customers, and we hope that the issue will be resolved soon.”
Despite the challenging circumstances, the EEDC spokesman assured the people of Imo that the company is ready to restore power supply promptly once the industrial action comes to an end. He concluded by emphasizing EEDC’s commitment to enhancing its processes and providing improved services to its valued customers.
As Imo State residents await the resolution of the labour strike, the blackout remains a pressing concern, with communities and businesses affected by the disruption in electricity supply.
