Edo APC Set to Suspend Commissioners Refusing to Wear ‘Tinubu Cap’

Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, has warned that any commissioner barred from State Executive Council meetings for failing to wear the ‘Asiwaju cap’—a directive from Governor Monday Okpebholo—will face suspension from the party.

The governor, during the October 14 swearing-in of newly cleared commissioners and the inauguration of boards and commissions, had instructed members of his cabinet to demonstrate loyalty to President Bola Tinubu through branded outfits.

Speaking on the issue, Tenebe described noncompliance as “indiscipline and insubordination” and stressed that the party would not tolerate any form of disloyalty.

“If you refuse to wear the cap as the governor has directed, we will suspend you. That is indiscipline and insubordination,” Tenebe said.

He added that the measure aligns with the party’s commitment to securing 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu in Edo State. “If, as a member of the APC, you got an appointment, you are supposed to be loyal to the President. We are expressing our loyalty to him by wearing the cap. Those complaining are not members of the APC. We in Edo have made it clear—no Asiwaju cap, no Exco,” Tenebe emphasized.
