Deji Adeyanju: Only Northern Politician Can Challenge Tinubu in 2027 – Says Peter Obi’s Best Bet is Atiku’s VP
Political activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has stated that the highest political position Peter Obi can realistically aspire to in the 2027 presidential election is that of a vice-presidential candidate—specifically as a running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, should the latter contest again.
Adeyanju shared his view via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he argued that only a Northern politician has the political strength and network necessary to mount a credible challenge against President Bola Tinubu in the next general election.
He also preemptively addressed criticism from Peter Obi’s supporters, popularly known as the “Obidients,” saying he expected backlash for his opinion but maintained that his analysis was based on political realities.
Adeyanju’s comments add to growing conversations around potential alliances and strategic positioning as Nigeria inches closer to the 2027 elections.
