Christmas Day Broadcast: I Will Implement Peace Deal With Wike – Fubara
In a Christmas Day broadcast, Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has publicly affirmed his commitment to the Presidential peace proclamation, aiming to restore political stability in the state. Despite facing mixed reactions, Governor Fubara assures the public that he will implement the peace deal in a manner that preserves democratic values and the collective interest of the people.
Acknowledging the controversy surrounding the agreement, Governor Fubara, in the spirit of humility and love associated with the Christmas season, expressed his decision to wholeheartedly embrace and abide by the terms of the Peace Agreement brokered by President Bola Tinubu on December 18, 2023. The Governor believes the agreement offers a pathway to lasting peace and stability in Rivers State.
However, the Presidential Peace Agreement has not been without criticism, drawing both applause and condemnation from Nigerians. While some applaud the effort, others accuse President Tinubu of coercing Governor Fubara into acceptance.
Despite the polarized reactions, parties involved in the agreement have shown commitment to the implementation process. Positive gestures include the withdrawal of the purported impeachment notice on the Governor and the release of withheld allowances for members of the Rivers State House of Assembly by the Government.
Governor Fubara, expressing gratitude for the massive support from the people, remains optimistic about the transformation of Rivers State in 2024. He highlights key projects and programs, including sections of the Port Harcourt Ring Road, the Andoni section of the Unity Road, and the Emohua-Degema Road, as crucial contributors to the state’s anticipated development.
