“China Will Not Dictate Our Foreign Policy” — U.S. Lawmaker Backs Trump On Nigeria Military Action

U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore has sharply rebuked China over its warning to Washington against potential military intervention in Nigeria, asserting that Beijing will not dictate America’s foreign policy. Moore’s comments followed reports that China cautioned the United States against involvement in Nigeria’s internal affairs after President Donald Trump threatened military action to stop what he described as a genocide against Christians.

In a post shared Tuesday on X, Moore endorsed Trump’s position, saying America has a moral duty to defend persecuted Christians in Nigeria. “President Trump is absolutely right to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering horrific persecution, and even martyrdom, for their faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,” he wrote.

The congressman also condemned China’s human rights record, accusing Beijing of hypocrisy for criticizing the United States on global issues. “China will not dictate our foreign policy to us, and we will not be lectured to by a Communist autocracy that recently arrested 30 Christian pastors for their faith and throws ethnic minorities in concentration camps,” Moore said.

His remarks come amid rising diplomatic tension between Washington and Beijing. Chinese officials have warned the U.S. against what they described as “unwarranted interference” in Nigeria’s security matters. At a press conference in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reiterated China’s support for Nigeria, declaring that Beijing “firmly opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, and threatening other countries with sanctions and force.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has also urged President Donald Trump to respect Nigeria’s sovereignty and avoid any plans to deploy American forces. Daniel Bwala, an aide to President Bola Tinubu, told Russia National TV that allegations of state-backed persecution of Christians were unfounded, describing them as part of a coordinated media effort to discredit the administration.
