Chaos at Abuja Airport as Sisters Fight Until One Faints Over Missed Flight
Two sisters caused a scene at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday after missing their scheduled United Airlines flight.
Witnesses said the pair arrived at the terminal after boarding had closed. An argument broke out as each blamed the other for their late arrival. The disagreement soon turned physical, drawing attention from passengers and airport staff.
Security personnel from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Aviation Security (AVSEC) intervened and escorted the women to the interrogation office. While there, they resumed fighting, and one of them reportedly collapsed.
Medical staff were called to the scene. The conscious sister initially refused treatment for her sibling, insisting that the issue was “spiritual,” but airport officials transferred the unconscious woman to the FAAN clinic for observation. Her condition was still being assessed at the time of this report.
Confirming the incident on X (formerly Twitter), the spokesperson for the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, said:
“Perhaps one of them blamed her sibling for their missing flight. They began to fight, scattering luggage and other items before being taken to the interrogation office by airport security. Inside, they fought again until one of them fainted. She is now receiving care at the FAAN clinic. Hopefully, she makes a recovery.”
The NCAA reiterated that passengers are expected to arrive at least two hours before departure, in line with aviation regulations.
