“Buhari Could Have Been Long Dead If He Used Nigerian Hospitals” — Femi Adesina
Former presidential spokesman Femi Adesina has said that ex-President Muhammadu Buhari might not have survived had he relied on medical care in Nigerian hospitals. Speaking during Channels Television’s special coverage of Buhari’s funeral on Tuesday, Adesina addressed public criticism over Buhari’s death in a London hospital, explaining that the former president had always sought medical treatment in the UK, even before assuming office in 2015.
According to Adesina, British doctors were already familiar with Buhari’s medical history, and continuing care with them was the logical choice. He stressed that some Nigerian hospitals lacked both the equipment and the expertise needed to manage Buhari’s health challenges, suggesting that seeking treatment abroad was not optional but necessary for his survival.
