Buhari a Patriotic Leader and an Angel in Human Flesh – Akande
Pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Osun State governor, Chief Bisi Akande, has described the late President Muhammadu Buhari as a patriotic leader whose legacy will endure. Akande made the remarks yesterday in Kaduna while leading a delegation of political associates to offer condolences to the Buhari family.
The delegation included Senator Abu Ibrahim, former Youth and Sports Minister Sunday Dare, APC chieftain Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi, Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment Silas Agara, and Convener of the Arewa Think Tank Mohammed Alhaji Yakubu. They were received by former First Lady Hajiya Aisha Buhari and the family’s eldest son, Yusuf Buhari.
Recalling his last meeting with Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, Akande said the former president appeared robust and healthy, with no indication that he was nearing the end of his life. “I first heard that he died when I was abroad. Before then, I met him in Daura. After our feast, we had a nice time together. He was looking robust; he was healthy, very strong,” he said.
Akande described the news of Buhari’s death as a shock and a personal loss. “It was very painful; very, very painful. When I came back, I thought the first thing I should do was to come and meet the family, commiserate with them and pray with them. And that’s what I have come here to do today,” he added.
He praised Buhari’s leadership, calling him “a great Nigerian” and “maybe an angel coming in human flesh” who had made a lasting impact through his service to the nation. Akande emphasized that Buhari’s influence would continue to resonate, saying, “His spirit will continue to live forever because of the good work he did in Nigeria.”
