British High Commission Clarifies UK Visa Rules for Nigerian Travellers
The British High Commission in Nigeria has reiterated its support for legal and legitimate migration in response to ongoing speculation surrounding possible changes to UK visa regulations for Nigerian travellers. In a statement issued to diplomatic correspondents in Abuja, the Commission stressed that the United Kingdom remains open to lawful visitors while maintaining a firm stance against visa misuse.
According to the statement, the UK immigration system is under continuous review to ensure it facilitates genuine travel while deterring those who may attempt to exploit the system. The Commission underlined the importance of striking a balance between encouraging legitimate migration and safeguarding the integrity of its borders.
Highlighting the strong and enduring relationship between the UK and Nigeria, the Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing cooperation with the Nigerian government to address irregular migration. It also encouraged those in need of further clarification to reach out to its Press and Public Affairs team, while expressing gratitude for the public’s understanding and cooperation.
