BBNaija Winner Phyna Renounces Family Surname, Cites Reasons
Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has made a surprising announcement regarding her family ties. In a late-night tweet on Thursday, the reality TV star revealed she is renouncing her family surname, Otabor, and expressed emotional turmoil over her identity and upbringing.
Phyna, who rose to fame after winning the BBNaija show in 2022, disclosed her struggles, stating that she feels disconnected from her family. “I am publicly dropping my family surname OTABOR… It has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about,” she wrote.
The reality star further explained that her childhood was marked by uncertainty, as she was “tossed around” among relatives, which she said should have raised questions earlier. “Going up and the way I was tossed around relatives I should suspected but guess I was too young,” she added.
Phyna concluded her emotional tweet by describing her current state of mind as chaotic, sharing, “I’m still searching for answers though… it’s been rough with me lately… my head wan tear.”
The revelation has sparked conversations among fans and followers, with many offering words of support and encouragement while others expressed shock.
Phyna has not provided further details about her decision or her next steps but has hinted at an ongoing search for clarity and stability in her life.
