Bandits Rustle Chief Imam’s 73 Cows in Kaduna
Bandits have stolen 73 cows belonging to the chief imam of Gidan-Makeri, Malam Ibrahim Zubairu, in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 5:33 pm, according to local residents.
Shuaibu Ahmadu, a resident of the neighbouring Kuchimi village, reported that the bandits, heavily armed and in large numbers, stormed the area and directed their assault towards the location where the cows were kept, a short distance from the community.
“The bandits started shooting sporadically to intimidate the villagers and prevent them from intervening while they led the cows away,” Ahmadu said.
At the time of the attack, the chief imam was away in Kagarko. However, upon receiving news of the incident, vigilantes from Kuchimi village mobilized and pursued the bandits.
“As fate would have it, the cows were later retrieved by the vigilantes from Kuchimi village,” Ahmadu confirmed. “The bandits were forced to abandon the cows when they couldn’t cross River Gurara, allowing the vigilantes to recover them.”
