Bandits Kill Three, Rustle 1,000 Cows in Fresh Niger Attacks
Armed bandits launched coordinated attacks in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State on Tuesday, killing three people and rustling more than 1,000 cows. The assault, which began around 11:00 a.m., spread rapidly across Ibeto, Salka, and Koso communities and was still ongoing at the time of filing this report.
Residents said the attackers warned they would extend their rampage to Kura community later in the evening, forcing villagers to flee into nearby bushes or remain locked in their homes. One eyewitness told SK Blog that the gunmen were moving toward Magaman Daji, apparently to cross into Zamfara State after the operation.
Calls for urgent security reinforcements have intensified, with residents appealing to the government to deploy more personnel since the nearest Army barracks are located in Kontagora. Efforts to reach Niger State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, for confirmation were unsuccessful.
The attack comes just a day after bandits abducted Ahmed Mohammed, a commissioner with the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, his driver, former SUBEB chairman Mohammed Bawa Niworu, and several motorists.
