Bandit Leader Imposes ₦50 Million Levy on Katsina Communities
A notorious bandit leader, Mustapha Babaro, has reportedly demanded a ₦50 million levy from Yargoje and nearby communities in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. The warning was issued on Saturday, with residents told to raise the money within a set deadline or face serious consequences.
Security analyst Bakatsine shared the development on X, highlighting concerns over the effectiveness of local peace efforts. He noted that this comes despite two peace parleys between authorities and bandits in the LGA within the past three months, raising questions about the protection of residents.
State authorities have yet to issue an official response to the latest incident.
