Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, who represents Borno Central in the Senate, has distributed N135.65 million to executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across his constituency ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The cash donation was confirmed by the senator’s aide, Usman Alkali, in a Facebook post on Saturday.
According to Alkali, the funds were shared with APC executives in Borno Central as part of a Sallah support package.
“Distinguished Senator representing Borno Central, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN), on Thursday distributed cash to APC executives in his Borno Central constituency, totalling ₦135,650,000 as Sallah package to celebrate the Eid-Kabir festival,” the post read.
Alkali added that this was the third time the lawmaker had extended similar financial support to party officials since joining the National Assembly.
Lawan recently featured in the political calculations ahead of the Borno governorship race. He was among the aspirants who obtained the APC governorship nomination form alongside Mustapha Gubio, who is widely regarded as the preferred candidate of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The senator later stepped down from the race, endorsed Gubio and returned to seek re-election to the Senate unopposed.
