Peter O. Ekwueme, former Anambra South Senatorial Candidate and a stakeholder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Anambra State, has congratulated the party on the successful conduct of its Second National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting held in Abuja.

The NEC meeting ratified the party's primary elections and formally confirmed candidates who will represent the NDC in the 2027 general elections.

Ekwueme, who attended the meeting alongside party leaders and stakeholders from across the country, described the gathering as another important milestone in the growth and consolidation of the party.

In a statement issued after the meeting, he congratulated all aspirants who emerged victorious in the primaries and urged them to be magnanimous in victory.

“The confidence reposed in you by party members comes with great responsibility. I urge you to embrace inclusiveness, reconciliation and teamwork as we prepare for the task ahead,” he said.

He also appealed to aspirants who were unsuccessful in the primaries to accept the outcome in good faith and remain committed to the party's collective vision.

“Democratic contests naturally produce winners and others who may not succeed on the day, but our commitment to building a better Nigeria must remain unwavering. Politics should not be about personal ambition alone. At the end of the day, it is about the Nigerian people and the future we seek to build together,” Ekwueme stated.

The former senatorial candidate commended the party leadership for the successful completion of its internal processes and echoed calls for unity following the primaries.

He also praised the leadership of the party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for promoting reconciliation, inclusion and grassroots engagement.

Ekwueme wished all NDC candidates success as they begin consultations and campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that a united party would be well positioned to offer Nigerians credible leadership and effective governance.

“The task before us is bigger than any individual. If we remain united and focused on the needs of Nigerians, we will be better placed to deliver the change and progress our country deserves,” he added.
