Celebrity businessman and nightlife promoter Cubana Chief Priest has reportedly lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Orlu/Orsu/Oru East federal constituency in Imo State.
The socialite, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, was said to have participated in the party’s consensus primary ahead of the next general election but did not emerge as the party’s candidate.
Canice Moore Nwachukwu Omeogo was announced as the APC standard-bearer for the constituency.
The development sparked reactions across social media, where several users questioned the influence of celebrity status in party politics. Others argued that political visibility and financial strength alone are often insufficient in tightly contested party primaries.
Some commentators also suggested that the businessman lacked the political structure and grassroots network required to secure victory within the party.
While reactions to the outcome continue online, neither Cubana Chief Priest nor the APC leadership in Imo State has publicly addressed the reports as of the time of filing this report.
