The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, says he would welcome developments that weaken opposition parties, insisting that internal divisions within rival camps are already shaping Nigeria’s political landscape.

He made the remarks during a live interview on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, where he addressed questions on opposition dynamics ahead of future elections.

Yilwatda said the ruling party is not directly responsible for crises in opposition ranks, but argued that such tensions are already evident within those parties.

“You see, the APC is not fighting the African Democratic Congress, ADC, or the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC. They are the ones fighting each other.”

He maintained that the ruling party’s focus is not on direct confrontation with opposition groups such as the African Democratic Congress and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, but on navigating a political environment where rival parties are, in his view, struggling internally.

“The self-implosion is in the opposition rather than in the APC.”

Yilwatda further stated that while he is not claiming responsibility for internal disputes in opposition parties, he would not be opposed to outcomes that politically disadvantage them.

“I said there would be implosion in the opposition. I am not orchestrating it but I will be happy if I can do it. That’s my job.”

He added that political competition naturally involves strategic responses between rivals.

“If you are opposing me, should I be happy to watch you oppose me? I will use any means to oppose back.”
