Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four people abducted during operations targeting armed groups linked to Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani in Katsina State.

The Katsina State Government confirmed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu.

According to the statement, the rescued victims are Musa Yakuba (62), Alhaji Sa’adu Dayi (68), Mukhtar Danja (36), and Salisu Danja (50). They were recovered during coordinated military activity in areas identified as hideouts of the armed group.

Medical teams attended to the victims shortly after their extraction. Authorities said they had sustained gunshot injuries while in captivity and were stabilised on arrival.

The government also noted that the wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd) had previously been freed in a related operation. It added that the four recently rescued individuals appeared in an earlier photograph taken during captivity alongside her.

Operations against the armed network led by Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani continue across parts of the state. Security forces remain deployed in multiple locations linked to the group’s activities.

The state government, speaking through the Commissioner, said the rescue reflects sustained pressure from the military and other agencies involved in the campaign against armed groups in the region. It added that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend those still at large.

Authorities reaffirmed that the objective of the operation is to dismantle the network responsible for attacks and abductions, while maintaining security presence in affected communities.

Nigerian Army continues the operation in coordination with other security agencies, while the Katsina State Government says it will maintain support for ongoing efforts.

Katsina State remains a focal point of counter-banditry operations in the northwest, where security forces are tracking armed groups linked to multiple abductions.

Rabe Abubakar, previously associated with a separate rescue incident involving his wife, was mentioned in connection with earlier captivity images that included some of the recovered victims.

Security officials say the pursuit of Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani is ongoing as operations expand across suspected routes and hideouts.
