The All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun uploading the details of its National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma among the prominent names on the list.

The ongoing exercise follows the party's ratification of the results of its April primaries and the conclusion of its appeal process. Candidates are receiving the mandatory Candidate Affidavit Form (EC9), which forms part of the documents required by INEC for nomination.

Also on the APC senatorial list are Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Monguno and former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

Four serving governors have been cleared by the party to contest Senate seats. They are Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya.

In Kaduna State, former Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, former Senator Shehu Sani and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung have received their EC9 forms, confirming them as the APC's senatorial candidates for the 2027 general election. Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello also secured the party's ticket for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The ruling party is expected to field candidates in all 109 senatorial districts across the country.

For the House of Representatives, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, James Faleke and Mudashiru Obasa are among candidates whose nomination documents are being processed for submission to INEC.

Political parties are required to upload the names and particulars of their presidential and National Assembly candidates to the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal within the commission's stipulated timetable. The documents include Form EC9 and other statutory nomination forms.

Meanwhile, the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF) has resolved to meet APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda following complaints by some aspirants over the outcome of the party's appeal process. The affected states reportedly include Ondo, Benue, Kwara and Kogi.

Speaking after a meeting of the forum, PGF Chairman Hope Uzodimma said the governors would engage the party leadership to strengthen internal cohesion and coordinate preparations for the next phase of the party's activities ahead of the general election.

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said the party's immediate priority is ensuring that all successful candidates complete their nomination forms before the INEC deadline.

According to him, the APC reviewed more than 700 petitions submitted by aggrieved aspirants after the primaries, leading to adjustments in some constituencies, while candidates whose victories were upheld retained their nominations.

Morka said the appeal process had been concluded and that those currently completing their EC9 forms constitute the party's final list of candidates for submission to INEC.
