All Abducted Passengers of GIG, ABC Buses Regain Freedom in Kogi State

The 14 travelers who fell victim to a harrowing abduction by armed gunmen at Inele Eteke, Olalamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, have been successfully liberated. The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye, confirmed this positive news during a conversation with newsmen on Thursday evening.

SP Ovye stated, “Just been informed by the DPO that all the kidnapped victims of God is Good Motors, GIG, and ABC have regained their freedom.”

The disturbing incident unfolded on Saturday, February 3, 2024, when armed bandits hijacked two buses affiliated with God is Good Motors (GIG) and ABC transport companies, forcibly taking away approximately 14 passengers to an undisclosed location. God is Good Motors had 12 passengers on board, while ABC had two.

Subsequent to the abduction, the perpetrators contacted the families of the victims, demanding a hefty ransom of N15 million for the release of the captives. As of now, it remains uncertain whether the ransom was paid before the abductees were freed.

This development marks a relief for the families and the affected transport companies, highlighting the complexities and challenges faced in the security landscape of the region. Authorities are expected to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the release of the hostages in the coming days.
