Akpabio Has a History of Abusing Women During His Time as Governor – Atiku
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of abusing women during his tenure as governor of Akwa Ibom State. Atiku made the allegation in response to recent sexual harassment claims against Akpabio by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Speaking in an interview on *Untold Stories* with journalist Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie, Atiku was asked whether Akpabio had faced corruption allegations during his time as governor. In his response, Atiku claimed that Akpabio was not only corrupt but also had a history of mistreating women.
During the interview, Atiku also addressed speculation about his possible candidacy in the 2027 presidential election. He recalled the 2014 political merger that saw multiple candidates vying for the presidency, emphasizing that Nigeria is in dire need of credible leadership. While he did not confirm whether he would run, he suggested that a similar coalition could be formed to challenge the current government.
Atiku also criticized the National Assembly’s swift approval of the state of emergency, saying he was not surprised by the speed of the decision. He alleged that the leadership of the legislature is corrupt, adding that the Senate President has a history of such behavior dating back to his time as a governor.
