TWO WOMEN, SAME HORROR. #KajuruVictims

Meet these two women, from different Adara villages with the same horrific experiences and permanent bodily injuries. You will recall in my update days back, I deliberately left them out. It wasn’t because I wanted to, but given the situation I found them, out of respect, I felt they needed privacy as they battled for their lives. Now that God has intervened, and they have a chance again to live and tell their stories, I am back with this update just about them.

RAHILA GODWIN
She’s seen eating and wearing a brown shirt. She’s 25 years old and before the attack, a mother of two and pregnant with the third. She hails from Dogon Noma, Kajuru LG. Her assailants, Fulani militia, attacked the sleepy community and she fell a victim. The assailants in their hundreds, divided themselves and each victim was assigned a set of conscienceless men in their hood to deal with. Her captors didn’t fire any gun shot. Because she was an easy prey, they chose to use the machete. She was trapped on the ground and kept before a chopping board. With her left hand stretched on the board, they began to chop off the hand until they completely dismembered the hand. Done with the left hand, they made for the right and inflicted severe cuts. Same to her neck and face. At the end of the terror stricken experience, she was left to die. Her left hand gone, deep cuts to her right hand, neck and face. Because of the trauma and loss of blood, the nine months old baby in her womb died. Thus, when she was rushed to St Gérard hospital, the doctors’ first task was to get blood transfusion carried out so she could survive the evacuation of the pregnancy and subsequently, treatment. It is important I state that she lost her little son named Dialogue in this attack and of course the child in her womb.

JUMMAI VICTOR
Jummai (in white vest) is approximately 30 years old. She hails from U/Barde, Kajuru LG. The second attack on this community took place on the 10/3/2019. She was five months pregnant. Her assailants, like those of Rahila, were ruthless and vicious. They didn’t want to waste their bullets but chose to easily prey on her. She was struck with a machete and once on the ground, they began their wicked acts. Before pouncing on her, they lined up three of her children on the ground. This woman was able to recognise one of the Fulani assailants who before the attack lived in that community. He spoke Adara well and communicated with the children in Adara. The assailants asked them to lay on the floor, and before her eyes, her children were butchered until they all died. Done with her children, it was now her turn. Gradually, they inflicted injuries on her until her left hand was left with only a broken bone to support the little flesh left. Same wickedness was extended to her right hand, neck and face. Jummai, like the other victim, Rahila, lost her five months old pregnancy.

The Media are silent, the Government are silent, People are scared to talk and they expect people like us to stop talking 😭
