Tinubu Nominates Jamila Ibrahim as Youth Minister, Ayodele Olawande as Minister of State

President Bola Tinubu has put forward the nomination of Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim as the next Minister of Youth, awaiting approval by the Senate. This significant decision is part of a broader effort to harness the potential of young Nigerians in the country’s development.

Mr. Ayodele Olawande has also been nominated as the Minister of State for Youth, pending Senate confirmation. This dual nomination underscores the commitment of the Tinubu administration to addressing the concerns and aspirations of Nigeria’s vibrant youth population.

The announcement came through a press release issued on Sunday by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity. Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, a young and accomplished medical doctor, was notably the President of the Progressive Young Women Forum (PYWF) and previously held the role of Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mr. Ayodele Olawande, the nominee for Minister of State for Youth, brings a wealth of experience as a community development expert and a prominent youth leader within the ruling All Progressives’ Congress (APC). His recent tenure in the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Innovation from 2019 to 2023 reflects his commitment to driving innovative solutions for the nation.

In his statement, President Bola Tinubu urged both nominees to consistently embody the dynamism, innovative spirit, and unwavering dedication that are characteristic of Nigeria’s young generation as they carry out their responsibilities. This directive underscores the expectation that they will actively contribute to the progress and prosperity of the nation’s youth.

With these nominations, Nigeria eagerly anticipates the Senate’s deliberation and confirmation of these promising candidates. Dr. Jamila Ibrahim and Mr. Ayodele Olawande hold the potential to steer the country towards a brighter and more inclusive future for its youth.
