A 17-year-old girl, Chisom Chukwuneke, who made straights A’s in the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, has died.
Seventeen-year-old Chisom became an online sensation after making straights seven distinctions, A1, in the 2019 WASSCE and clinched the spot of a best graduating student in her secondary school in Enugu.
Chisom was also honoured by the West Africa Examination Council, WAEC, and several other groups for excellent performance.
Late Chisom’s father, a professor and Consultant Surgeon at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Nsukka, Felix Chukwuneke, who announced his daughter’s demise, said she died on October 18, 2020.
Professor Felix Chukwuneke revealed that Chisom lost her life following an undisclosed sickness which started off as a leg pain but intensified.
He said unfortunately, Chisom succumbed to leukaemia which she battled for a while even after being flown to South Africa for treatment.
Chisom is expected to be buried in Anambra State on November 29, 2020.
