Senator Uche Ekwunife, the Director General of the Southeast Governors Forum (SEGF), commended the dedicated efforts of South-east governors in advancing the development of the region. Speaking to the media during the one-day Anambra Investment Summit held at the International Convention Centre in Awka, Anambra state, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, Senator Ekwunife highlighted the industrious nature of the people in the South-east and emphasized the importance of continued commitment to regional development.
Senator Ekwunife stated, “People of the South-east region are very industrious and enterprising. We can all see the efforts of our present set of governors from the region to fast track development for the benefit of our people. We encourage the governors not to relent in their efforts, especially in the area of fighting insecurity, as investment dollars flow to states and regions where there is peace and stability.”
She continued by emphasizing the determination of South-east governors to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including traditional rulers and Presidents General of various communities, to find lasting solutions to the security challenges facing the region.
Senator Ekwunife highlighted the significance of summits like the Anambra Investment Summit, which serve as valuable platforms for networking and the incubation of business ideas. She emphasized that such efforts would contribute to the continued and sustainable development of the South-east. She further pointed out that key areas of focus, including security, power, transportation, and human capital development, are of utmost interest to the people, and the governors are actively addressing these concerns.
