Protesters on Wednesday stormed the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Abuja for the second consecutive day.
The protesters, who are from Niger state are demanding the sack of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party for what they described as an attempt by the national leadership to impose the former state Chairman of the PDP in the state, Tanko Beji, for another tenure against their preferred choice of Mukhtar Ahmed.
The protesters earlier on Tuesday besieged the national secretariat of the PDP demanded also the removal of the National Financial Secretary, Abdulahi Maibasira, for alleged anti-party activities. They alleged that the national leadership of the party is romancing with the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state to sabotage the party.
Alleged manipulation of the recent local government Congresses of the PDP in the state has sparked protests after former deputy governor of the state, Dr. Shem Zagbayi Nuhu had on Monday accused the Senator Hamman Misau led electoral team of abscondment without completing its assignment of successfully conducting the party congresses.
