Following the outbreak of violent protests in Bayelsa state in the aftermath of the Supreme Court verdict that nullified the victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 16, 2019 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa, David Lyon, the state police command has declared a dusk to dawn curfew in Bayelsa State.
Announcing the curfew on Friday in Yenogoa, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Uche Anozia said the curfew will last for three days in the first instance.
The state was on Friday rocked by protests which assumed a violent dimension as angry protesters set the state secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Fire. The protesters also stormed Radio Bayelsa and destroyed some properties.
