A group of women in the Baddo community in Taura Local Government area in Jigawa State have gathered themselves together to contribute N1000 each for the purchase of a vehicle, specifically for the transportation of pregnant women to the hospital for child delivery.
They were reported to have contributed the money from the “Conditional Cash Transfer” introduced to them by the Federal Government.
In a report monitored on Channels TV, a spokesperson of the women, Halima Adamu Boddo said a vehicle which was given to them for the same purpose, became faulty about three years ago, they had tried all they could to get it repaired, but to no avail.
Halima said, “It is cash that we are receiving from the Federal Government, that we sat down and thought of how we could help ourselves”.
She further said, “We decided to contribute N1000 each and we have bought the car”.
“Our plan is to use the car to transport pregnant women to the hospital for child delivery”.
