Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State, has sacked 20 out of his 28 commissioners.
Reports have it that, the sacking of the Commissioners, might not be unconnected with an allegation made by the governor about two weeks ago that are moles amongst his appointees sabotaging his administration.
You would recall that the Governor only recently reshuffled his cabinet and appointed new Commissioners I to the Finance and Health ministries.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Nwachuku Oguwike, confirmed the development, saying that “The news is correct. 20 commissioners were affected while eight were not affected. The reason is to infuse new blood and add more value to the governance system of the state.”
He further said that, the governor wished the concerned Commissioners well in their future endeavours.
Reports also have it that, the development came as a surprise to the affected Commisioners, as there were no signs of what was to unfold.
There are however no indications if the 8 unaffected Commissioners would be reshuffled or would retain their portfolios.
The unaffected ministries are: Health, Youth and Sports, Tourism, Information and Strategy, Woman Affairs, Works, Finance and Technology.
