The Economic and Financial Crimes Corruption (EFCC) frantic attempt at damage control after its acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu blamed Coronavirus epidemic on corruption turned to further embarrassment for the Commission after the video of Magu’s speech surfaced online.
EFCC on Tuesday evening, via its official handle @officialEFCC rushed to dispel the statement as misleading after an online news medium, The Cable Nigeria reported the news.

Magu had in a prepared speech at the graduation ceremony of the Commission’s cadets in Kaduna on Tuesday claimed that Coronavirus outbreak that started in China was caused by corruption. The event was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari.
China is Nigeria’s major trade and development partner. The Buhari administration had on several occasions turned to the Asian giant for loans to fund major projects.
