The Lagos State Government has categorically stated that all government-owned schools in the state would henceforth maintain the shift-system in the bid to combat the Covid19 pandemic.
It stated that, the shift system is essential is to avoid large gatherings and for the enforcement of social and physical distancing in its bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The state government stated that during the shift system, safety protocols necessary to curb the spread of COVID-19 would be observed and enforced.
It outlined that, the system would entail, students in SS1 and JS3 classes going to school only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while students in SSS 2 and JSS 2 will attend school only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
However, at the primary school level, the state government revealed that pupils have been put into two categories.
The first category would attend school only on Mondays and Wednesdays and for about three hours on Friday morning.
While the second category, would attend school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and for three hours on Friday afternoon.
The Babajide Sanwo-Olu led Lagos State government had introduced the shift-system last year when it directed schools to reopen for the first term of the year.
