The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu has said that the resumption date for school remains January 18.
He said the date remains unchanged until further directives are received.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, had earlier said that, in view of the second wave of Covid19 being experienced in the country, the Federal Government was considering shifting the January 18 resumption date.
He said “there are concerns about the scheduled date, adding that the federal government might review the date”.
But Aliyu in a stance that appears that the Federal Government is indecisive and unserious about the plight of students nationwide, said no decision had been taken on the date, saying January 18, 2021 remains intact.
He said “As regards schools, I just want to make a clarification. What the minister said yesterday was that they were going to review, he didn’t say that they were going to change the date. He said they will review the situation and let the nation know”.
Further stating that “So, for the moment, it is still 18th January until the ministry of education comes back either with an alternative date or reconfirm that.”
