The Presidential Task Force, PTF on COVID-19 says it is placing priority on four states in Nigeria; Lagos, FCT, Plateau, and Kaduna as it intensifies containment efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The National Incidence Coordinator of the PTF, Mukhtar Mohammed, who made the confirmation also announced that a lockdown should have been the best option at the moment but won’t be considered because of the impact it will have on the country.
The meeting between the Federal Capital Territory Administration and members of the PTF on COVID-19 is coming 48 hours after the President signed the COVID-19 Health Protection and Regulations 2021 Executive Order.
The agenda of the meeting was to proffer ways to ensure the implementation of the regulation through enforcement.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Muhammad Bello, explained that the COVID-19 Health Protection Regulations will provide legal backing for enforcement by operatives in the FCT and other parts of the country.
Other stakeholders at the meeting stressed the need for more awareness at the rural communities, markets and other public places.

The Minister of the FCT also appealed for more funding from the presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to compliment the efforts of the administration in the enforcement of compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
