In the midst of the #ImoDecides2023 elections, a distressing incident has unfolded in Mbaitolu Local Government, involving a female youth corps member who served as an ad hoc worker. Reports indicate that she is missing, and crucial electoral materials, including the BVAS system and result sheets, remain unrecovered.
Dr. Bolaji Olaleye, the local government collation officer, revealed during the result presentation that the corps member had not responded to numerous calls, raising fears about her well-being.
Efforts to contact the missing ad hoc worker raised further alarms. When a number provided by Olaleye was dialed, a female briefly answered the call but ended it abruptly upon inquiries about her location or safety.
Moreover, subsequent attempts to reach the same number were unsuccessful, as the phone was switched off. However, Truecaller identified the number’s owner as Mmesoma Maryann.
Olaleye expressed concern, stating, “I don’t know what happened to the female corps member, but the BVAS and result sheet in her possession couldn’t be located. Consequently, this led to the cancellation of the election in ward three polling units.”
The unsettling disappearance of the corps member and the critical electoral materials has disrupted the electoral process in the affected ward, prompting concerns and questions in the #ImoDecides2023 elections.
