The owner of Chelsea Football club of England, Roman Abramovich has put the club up for sale.
This is not unconnected with the looming threat of sanctions from the UK government following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The management of Chelsea FC had initially refuted news making the rounds that the club was up for sale, however there are strong indications that their stance might have changed due to calls by the UK government that Roman Abramovich should be sanctioned.
The Telegraph reported that Roman Abramovich has put Chelsea on the market for sale.
It was reported that an amount of £4billion is being demanded. It was also reported that he may only receive half of that amount as offer due to his “weak bargaining position.”
You would recall that, in the past Abramovich had rejected bids of £2.2bn for Chelsea FC.
Abramovich is alleged to have close ties with Vladimir Putin of Russia who only recently ordered the attack of Ukraine.
