A young politician and community mobiliser, Samuel Obe Ngobe, was killed on May 22 after armed attackers stormed his hotel in Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Witness accounts indicate that two men arrived on a motorcycle, entered the premises owned by the deceased, and opened fire on him inside the hotel. The attackers wore masks and left the scene immediately after the shooting.

Staff members at the hotel reported that the assailants took mobile phones from workers during the incident, preventing them from quickly alerting authorities.

The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the killing. Police spokesperson Agabe Blessing Kaborlo stated that investigations are ongoing.

Security operatives have since begun efforts to track the attackers and establish the motive behind the attack.
