The presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the 2019 general election , Prof. Kingsley Moghalu has demanded an immediate apology from human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN) for wrongly accusing him of accepting appointment from president Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and personally signed by him, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said Falana’s statement came as a shock to him and described it as an effort to malign his character.
Falana at the 2019 Felabration Symposium themed, “The Fela Debates”, held in the honour of the Afro legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti on Tuesday said Moghalu should not be celebrated because of his opportunism.
“I think it is unfair to single out Dr. Moghalu for recognition, we should not celebrate opportunism. Here is a politician who contested under a platform of a political party who has now moved conveniently to the APC, they have just given him an appointment and he has now discarded his own political party, I don’t think that is fair for us,” Falana said.
However, it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity as Falana mistook the national auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), George Moghalu who was recently appointed as the new Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) by president Muhammadu Buhari for the YPP presidential candidate.
