Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has described as unfortunate, the barrage of attacks directed at his person by the Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Ishaku Abbo.
Fintiri in a statement issued by his Director General, Media and Communications, Solomon Kumanga said however,he does not intend to join issues with the senator as he is focused on developing the state.
“His Excellency views the senator’s action as unfortunate and takes exception to the insults, innuendoes and attacks on his person and office. However, for now, the governor does not intend to join issues with the senator. Rather, His Excellency is in the delicate phase of laying strong bricks for the security, growth, development and prosperity of the people and institutions of Adamawa State and would not want to be distracted.
“His excellency hereby calls on distinguish Senator Abbo and indeed all loyal PDP members to explore available intra-party channels to express their grievances in a civilized and democratic manner to engender cohesion and solidarity” the statement reads in part.
Abbo had in recent weeks escalated attacks on the governor and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state over the conduct of the party’s local government primary election ahead of the council polls in the state. He has alleged that Fintiri is running the party like a gangster. In his most recent statement he accused the governor of rigging the primary election.
“We can no longer sit down to see our state being destroyed. I am a senator, if he wants to fight a senator, God bless him. I am prepared. PDP in Adamawa State is sick, PDP in Adamawa State is in Intensive Care Unit and PDP in Adamawa State is surviving on oxygen. PDP is dead” he declared.
