Federal high court in Owerri sacks APC Lawmaker-Elect, declares PDP winner

A Federal High Court in Owerri has sacked the House of Representatives member-elect for Nkwerre/Nwangele/Njaba/Isu federal constituency of Imo state, Ugonna Ozurigbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Harrison Nwadike of APC had approached the court to invalidate the candidacy of Ugonna Ozurigbo on the basis that the primary election conducted was not the one approved by law.

The judges agreed with him but instead of declaring him as the rightful candidate of the APC and duly elected, they declared that the APC has no candidate in the election because the APC had failed to conduct any legal primaries.

In the judgement delivered on Monday, May 27, by Justice PA Rigime, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was ordered to instead issue a certificate of return to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kingsley Echendu.
