Buhari reinstates TETFUND boss he sacked for misappropriating N200bn after cabal intervenes

The anti-corruption posture of the President Muhammadu Buhari- led administration on Monday was yet again called into question after the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Abdullahi Baffa was sacked and replaced by a former secretary of the agency Suleiman Bogoro who was accused of misappropriating over N200b belonging to the agency when he served between 2014- 2016.

Bagoro’s appointment was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Ministry of Education that also announced Baffa’s sack. The statement by the Ministry’s spokesman Ben Goong said Bagoro’s appointment is with immediate effect.

Bagoro was sacked in 2016 by Buhari on allegations of diverting N200b belonging to the agency to the campaign of former president Goodluck Jonathan.

No reason was given for Baffa’s sack. Baffa was appointed in 2016 following the sack of Bagoro’s by the Buhari’s administration.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has in recent times accused the administration of Buhari of harbouring corrupt officials and just last week said the president is a beneficiary of corruption.
